MD Standard School Visit

Monday we visited MD Standard School where we had a picture day for all the students & staff! The children were shy at first, but very quickly warmed up to us and didn’t want to leave our sides. The best part of the day was walking to the nearby field to play futbol with all the children. Team Erik & Alyssa vs. Team Michelle & Bonny made for an exciting match. Both teams had intense cheering sections that were chanting their names, making the game that much more exciting. In the end, Michelle & Bonny’s team took home the win – it must have been all the extra playing time and practice Michelle & Bonny spent on the futbol field back in 2010.

The next day, our team had plans to head back to the school, but we ended up making a stop at Iganga Hospital to visit Pastor Dan’s nephew, Eric. During the night, he was rushed to the hospital after fainting and being unable to breathe. Thankfully, by the time we arrived, Eric was doing better and we were able to meet and pray over him and his family. The day continued as we returned to the school, shared letters that Cooke Elementary School students wrote to our learners at MD Standard School, and continued to spend time hanging out with the children, taking pictures, and playing netball. We also found time in the day to take a quick trip to the garden where we currently grow and harvest our maize crops to feed our students.
